Moneysense’s latest compilation of best places in Canada for families ranks Quebec at the top of the list.
The province’s subsidized childcare system is 10 times more affordable than that in Toronto. Furthermore, daycare spaces are much easier to come by, allowing Quebec parents to bypass the long waiting lines that are standard in many Canadian cities.
Several of the cities chosen by Moneysense’s numbers-based approach are located around Montreal. At the top of the list, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville lies just 20 minutes east of Montreal Island. The low average housing price ($454,000), high average income ($119,000), and proximity to the Mont-Saint-Bruno national park makes this city ideal for family life.
Moneysense’s ranking system considers cities with a large populations under the age of 15. It takes into account economy, crime rate, affordability, and access to childcare.
